We went to the Nottingham Boat Club again, with proceeds helping to pay for the much better PA system that was used and that can be borrowed by the Weekend Warrior bands (and there is a second tranche about to get under way). Everybody agreed that all the bands were much tighter, and the sound much better. Nobody asked for their money back!
The set was::
A Town Called Malice - by The Jam
Peter on vocals, the rest of us keeping it punchy. Ken featuring on bass.
Folsom Prison Blues - by Johnny Cash
Peter and Ken on joint vocals, hoping we’ll both be audible this time. Guitar solo from Neil.
The River - by Bruce Springsteen
Ken on vocals, Peter on Harmonica and backup vocals, Neil on acoustic guitar. Finishing keyboards from Graham.
I Heard it Through the Grapevine - by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Peter on vocals, Ken backing up, Neil and Graham with some solos, but not for eight minutes
To Love Somebody - by the Bee Gees/Slobberbone
Ken on vocals, trying to give it a bit of a blues feel, Peter joining in for the chorus. Solos from Graham and Neil.
Promised Land - by Chuck Berry
Peter and Ken on joint vocals, with a rocking backing from Neil on his Les Paul.
Summer of 69 - by Bryan Adams
Peter on vocals, with Ken joining in the chorus. The big finish was pre-empted a bit by Colin!!
We didn’t get time to do our encore, so will have to save it up for the Rose of England. We’ll have to stop Peter from talking quite so much between tracks... :)
